Last week I met a man named Frank at Hammer’s in Whitewater, WI. While enjoying a cold drink Frank mentioned that Club 26 had the best French Onion soup in the area. My face dimmed as I informed him that Club 26 has closed down. I pressed Frank if he knew when it could have closed. He replied that the last time he had eaten there was 2007. This would be consistent with a chalkboard full of names inside Club 26. There is a “007” written on it and a visible space where a 2 should be.

Club 26 is now Wisconsin state property.
